Making tax law understandable
India's tax law is precise, but it is not written to be read. ITR Saral exists to close that gap — one tool, one rule, one worked example at a time — for the people the law affects most and explains least: freelancers, consultants, creators and other independent professionals.
Why this site exists
On 1 April 2026 the Income-tax Act, 1961 was replaced by the Income-tax Act, 2025. Every section number a generation of taxpayers had memorised changed overnight, while most explanations online stayed frozen on the old law. Independent professionals — who file without an employer's payroll team behind them — were left to guess.
ITR Saral is built directly on the new Act. Every calculator names the section it applies, shows a worked example, states its edge cases honestly and carries the date it was last verified. The goal is simple: you should understand why a number is what it is, not just see it.
How the work is checked
- Every rule is written from the bare Act (Income-tax Act, 2025; CGST/IGST Acts) and official CBDT/CBIC notifications — not second-hand summaries.
- Every tool page names its sections, shows a worked example and carries a last-verified date.
- Where practitioners genuinely disagree, the tool shows both readings instead of silently picking one.
- Calculator logic is reviewed with a practising Chartered Accountant; each tool shows its review status and date.
- Every calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored.
Who builds it
ITR Saral is designed and built by Anurag Kumar Pandey, an independent software builder from Uttar Pradesh, India, who develops calculation-heavy web platforms and believes that a rule you can't verify is a rule you can't trust. This site applies that standard to tax: every number traceable to its source.
What this site is not
Not tax advice, not legal advice, not a filing service. It is an informational starting point — decisions that involve real money deserve a Chartered Accountant. See the full disclaimer.
